Hmmmm

Youths wearing balaclavas targeted the sports facility in Larne, Co Antrim, a seaside town 20 miles east of Ballymena where disorder was triggered by the alleged attempted rape of a schoolgirl at the hands of two Romanian-speaking teenagers.

A previous description of them was as Romanian.

D’ye think it will change again to Romany perhaps? I have a suspicion it might…..

Anyone else noticed the big difference in the reporting, certainly on the Beeb, on the ‘Rioting’ in Norn Irn and the ‘Mostly Peaceful Protests’ in LA?

JuliaM

I’m reading Twitter reports of them identified as Roma youth. Clearly the local press translated that to ‘Romanian’ but it’s not, is it?

JuliaM

And yes, Jonathan, the difference is stark.

Agreed,

Very little chance of sycophantic articles headed “I felt strongly that I had to be out there”.

In an April poll by the Sunday Independent, 7% of those polled said they would vote for McGregor in a presidential election, while 90% said they would not. 69% of respondents said they would be less likely to vote for a TD or councillor if they nominated McGregor to run. 78% said Donald Trump disrespected Ireland by inviting McGregor to the White House.

I only hope for Ireland’s sake that the Sunday Independent is as laughably unrepresentative of the majority view as its UK namesake.

Rioters torch leisure centre sheltering migrants in Northern Ireland

If they’re going to turn your local swimming pool into a doss house for foreign rapists, what do they expect?

Would you rather have:

* A closed swimming pool, or
* Foreign rapists living off you and hanging round your daughter’s school?

Communities minister for East Antrim accused of inflaming tensions as it emerged that he posted location of shelter on social media

NB the response is always to hide, lie, and pretend they aren’t mainlining foreign rapists into your previously nice communities, and blame any negative reaction on the proles being informed.

You know who else can’t tolerate their actions being brought to light? Criminals.

Hold tight – Wait ’til the party’s over
Hold tight – We’re in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house

@Steve: the discussion over on Twitter this morning has been enlightening. It seems that the local council swept in and moved out every migrant in that leisure centre before the rioters descended, quite a lot of the comments suggesting they’d come to the mainland or south to Eire. Noticsblly not back where they came from, of course.

I think the authorities, if they had the spine, would be saying to the natives:

‘Here’s your ticket, pack your bag
Time for jumpin overboard
Transportation is here’

I definitely anticipate the likes of Sadiq Khan would like to expropriate properties for the Muslim incomers and would fancy some detention camps for his political opposition. How soon is now?

JuliaM – the US government has an important message for “migrants”:

You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.

We should take the same pragmatic approach. Your country is “too dangerous?” Fine, fuck off back to France. Doesn’t look like that leisure centre will be hosting dinghy rapists anytime soon, lol.

VP – the problem of the indigenous population is that we have nowhere else to go.

That’s how come we will win. I didn’t come from a long line of Baldricks just to hand over our country to smelly foreign charity cases who worship devils.

I think you give Mr Khan too much credit. He’s a ridiculous little poof, not the next Sultan. Khan would never get elected in Pakistan.

From the BBC – chair of the Northern Ireland Policing Board, Mukesh Sharma – there’s what’s wrong in a single sentence.

I recall a comedy show/sketch from many years back where a Jew moved to Northern Ireland and the first question was about whether they were Republicans (Catholic) or Unionists (Protestant). Of course, being neither one nor the other wasn’t an acceptable answer.

Seems that the demographics everywhere in the UK is now different.

Fully agree re: your assessment of Khan but he is on the speed dial of every Jihadist group in the world – and is working with the connivance of the U.K. government to bring in Columns 5 through 500. It’s those guys that do worry me. Particularly with the pending criminalisation of Criticism of Islam, and a judiciary that frankly might as well be Sharia courts.

That’s the nub. Like most people, I don’t condone or encourage arson, and neither do you. But we may also be amazed, astounded and appalled that officialdom has not yet realised it’s the attempts to manage news that spark the frustration and anger that leads to riots in the first place.

and is working with the connivance of the U.K. government to bring in Columns 5 through 500.

Same as Tony Benn.

Talking of Tony Benn, which UK cabinet minister has responsibility for Northern Ireland?

“A previous description of them was as Romanian.”
The local press is now only taking as definitive the BBC report that the accused replied to the charges through a Romanian interpreter. Maybe there are other reasons why a couple of 14 year olds only or mostly speak Romanian. Naturalisation is one such.
There’s nothing official about the “Roma” claim – it’s a rumour that keeps on popping up.

The problem with pogroms is they are indiscriminate.

If you make the focus of your policy the visible support of (and obligation to be seen visibly supporting) noticeably large numbers of criminal illegal immigrants who have no business being here and living off enormous quantities of your taxpayersr money, you make those indiscriminate pogroms more likely.

I wonder why no politician seems to want to square this circle.

Are these people deliberately trying to conflate Romanians the country with Romani the gypsies?
