Queen Charlotte was a “person of colour”, a museum’s LGBT audio guide has wrongly claimed.

The audio guide for the Royal Museums Greenwich tells visitors that despite what “insecure white boys” have said, George III’s wife was the first British royal from a non-white background.

Queen Charlotte’s purported ethnicity has been sidelined because of “structural racism”, according to the guide, which states that she was a “person of colour”.

Someone been reading too much Bridgerton?

Err, yes, appears so.

  1. Literally doing the meme:

” Queen Charlotte was black. You might disagree. You might even have some evidence to the contrary. But you have to ask yourself: is this really worth losing my job over? Queen Charlotte was black.”

  2. I had to look this up and now wish I hadn’t.

The premise is that Charlotte Mecklenburg Strelitz was descended from the offspring of a “moorish” mistress of King Alfonso III of Portugal who lived in … the first half of the 14th Century.

There all you insecure white boys take that ! Black as the Ace of Spades she was….

  3. Me thinks “insecure white boys” deserves a surreptitious smack in the mouth. To encourage respect.

  4. Interesting. So all you Brits are ‘persons of colour’, since the Roman legions ploughed through the place about 2000 years ago, raping everything in sight.

So everyone calling you wicked white racists are wicked white racists!!!

Personally, I think a jolly-good sacking would be more appropriate (after the smack in the gob!).

  6. “Queen Charlotte’s purported ethnicity”: hold on. Nobody claims she’s African by culture so it’s not a question of ethnicity, it’s a question of race.

Just as sex and gender are different so are ethnicity and race (or so we are told to believe).

These are people who live and die by the ‘one drop rule’ and would bring out the ‘pencil test’ – but, of course, call them by different names – but *we’re* the racists?
